Healthy Skin

Healthy skin is the foundation of a successful tan. Indoor tanning products are designed to provide critical moisture to the skin before, during and after tanning. Dry skin peels away your tan layer by layer, so the healthier your skin, the longer you keep a tan. Your skin is designed to tan as a natural body function. A tan is the body’s natural protection against sunburn.

Indoor Tanning

The professional indoor tanning industry promotes and teaches what is referred to as “The Golden Rule of Smart Tanning”: Don’t ever sunburn. Indoor tanning is an intelligent way to minimise the risk of sunburn while maximizing the enjoyment and benefit of having a tan.

Glowing Skin

Good skin care can help delay the natural aging process and prevent many skin problems. Here are some simple skin care rules that will help protect your skin and keep it healthy and glowing.

Protect yourself from the sun: Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during high-intensity hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., wear protective clothing and use sunscreen if prolonged exposure cannot be avoided.

Wash your skin gently: Cleansing an essential part of caring for your skin. Warm water is preferable to hot, which removes the natural oils from your skin. Choose mild soaps and pat your skin dry, so that some moisture remains on your skin, then moisturise immediately.

Moisturise regularly: Moisturisers help maintain your skin’s natural moisture levels. Moisturisers work by creating a seal over your skin to keep water from escaping, or by slowly releasing water into your skin. The moisturiser that’s right for you depends upon your particular skin type and your age.

Who can use a Sunbed?

Most people are able to use a sunbed but there are exceptions. If you answer YES to any of the questions below, you NOT use a sunbed:

  • Are you aged under 18?
  • Do you always burn in natural sunlight?
  • Do you have a medical condition that becomes worse in sunlight?
  • Do you have an excessive amount of moles and/or freckles?
  • Do you have a history of sunburn, particularly from childhood?
  • Do you have skin cancer or does any member of your immediate family have/had skin cancer?

Also, if you are on any medication or drugs, please check with your GP or pharmacist before using a sunbed as certain drugs make the skin more sensitive to UV light. If you are pregnant, consult your GP before use.

So you’ve completed the above checklist and answered NO to all the questions and want to use a sunbed because looking good and feeling great is what having a tan is all about and why 70% of us in the UK and Ireland want one!

Whether it’s an all-year-tan, a pre-holiday boost, Vitamin D boost or you simply want to look good for that special occasion, a tan has never been more accessible.

Tanning Products

Accelerators

Miniaturisation is essential in the tanning process. Accelerators are specifically formulated to condition the skin whilst replenishing essential Vitamins. In addition to providing moisture, accelerator lotions carry ingredients that trigger the melanocyte cells to produce more melanin. This in turn is what helps you tan quicker. When you see this symbol, it confirms that these products have no tingle or bronzer properties.

Tingle

Enables you to feel and see your tan working immediately. Ingredients help stimulate rapid circulation on the surface of the skin, creating an extreme redness and warming/tingling sensation to enhance the intensity and appearance of a tan.

Tingle factors vary from range to range, giving you a moderate to extreme tingle. The effect is temporary and can last up to several hours.

Warning: We recommend testing a small area of the skin before using a tingle product. Tingle products should not be used by beginner tanners or those with sensitive skin. Never use a tingle product outdoors.

Cosmetic Instant Bronzers

As the name suggests, these bronzers provide immediate colour but will wash away after showering or when you come into contact with water. When using a lotion that contains these bronzers, you will see an initial colour so have the added benefit of a bronzed tan instantly.

Cooling Lotion

Helps you achieve your desired tanning results while helping your skin feel cool.

DHA Bronzers

A bronzer is a product with natural ingredients or DHA that provide colour to the skin. Lotions containing bronzers will enable people to achieve greater results from their tanning experience, sometimes more quickly. There are three main types of bronzer.

A DHA (dihydroxyacetone) bronzer does not require any UV light stimulation to produce a tan. These bronzers work by reacting to certain proteins on the surface layers of your skin. DHA takes approximately 6 to 8 hours to fully develop and should always be applied in circular motions. Always wash hands after use when using a product that contains DHA bronzers.

Natural Bronzers

A natural bronzer enhances the skin’s natural tanning potential by utilizing agents that occur naturally, and some of these ingredients include Henna, Walnut Oil, Kola Nut, Caramel and Carrot Oil.
